The C&D Landfill operations feature controlled unloading and consolidation of waste on site, spreading and compaction according to specifications, and periodic coverage of landfill materials.

The Stephens Rock and Dirt Processing/ Recycling Facility is operated in a manner to prevent pollution, as well as to protect public health and assure public safety. The property is inspected daily to assure there is no litter outside of the facility boundaries, which are guarded by protective buffers surrounding the site.

Typically, landfill gases result from decomposition of organic materials. Being a Construction and Demolition landfill, landfill gas, especially Methane, are minimal considering organic materials are not deposited in the landfill. Nonetheless, monitoring wells placed around the perimeter of the site are checked routinely.

In accordance with an approved water quality monitoring plan, a network of groundwater monitoring wells are routinely sampled to test for the presence of volatile organic compounds and total metals.

Roads throughout the facility are well-maintained and routinely sprayed with water withdrawn from stormwater retention ponds to keep dust to a minimum.

In an effort to prevent erosion and sedimentation of streams outside the facility, stormwater is directed to retention ponds and filtered before exiting the site.
